Trump on Lebanon: I think progress is made, I spoke to Netanyahu and Hezbollah about it.
*TRUMP: WOULD BE NICE IF LEBANON COULD HAVE PEACE *TRUMP: SPOKE TO NETANYAHU, HEZBOLLAH ABOUT IT
Hezbollah refused to abide by the conditions of a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, as the Washington and Tehran seek a parallel interim peace deal. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2026-06-04/no-sign-of-progress-in-us-iran-talks-as-hezbollah-rejects-truce?taid=6a21ab6ca7e6970001d48583&utm_campaign=trueanthem&utm_content=business&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter
Hezbollah chief Naim Qassem dismissed the Lebanon-Israel ceasefire proposal as "Satan's dream in heaven," warning that Israel's northern communities "will not be safe" while Israeli forces continue operating in Lebanon. Qassem also rejected direct Lebanon-Israel talks as "absurd, humiliating, and shameful," saying Hezbollah's resistance will continue "as long as the occupation exists." He thanked Iran for its support, saying Tehran is working toward "a comprehensive ceasefire in Lebanon" as part of efforts to end the conflict with Iran.
I hope this gave you a heads up. The IRGC is calling the shots. Hezbollah was never going to endorse a ceasefire if Tehran opposed it. The proposed ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon now appears to be on the verge of collapse. Interesting day ahead.
• Hezbollah rejects the Washington Declaration and direct Lebanon-Israel talks. • Hezbollah says disarming the group is a red line. • Hezbollah demands a full Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon. • Hezbollah says any ceasefire must cover all of Lebanon • Hezbollah says resistance will continue as long as Israeli forces remain in Lebanon. • Hezbollah says it has made no commitment to stop attacks. • Hezbollah warns northern Israel “will not be safe” while Lebanese villages are under attack. • Hezbollah rejects any foreign involvement in decisions regarding its weapons. • Hezbollah calls on the Lebanese government to end direct negotiations with Israel. • Hezbollah says national unity against Israel should take priority over internal political disputes.
Hezbollah: 'The result of the absurd, humiliating, and shameful direct negotiations for Lebanon—negotiations rejected outright by broad segments of the Lebanese people—was the Washington Declaration, which outlines the fundamental principles that America and Israel envision for Lebanon's subjugation to the Greater Israel project. The primary objective of any agreement is the disarmament of the resistance, which is tantamount to the destruction of Lebanon's power and an existential threat to its people. It is a declaration of intent to sabotage and destabilize Lebanon, incite strife among the Lebanese to Israel's advantage, and achieve through politics what Israel failed to achieve through war. This is impossible for those who cherish dignity, honor, and the memory of the martyrs, the wounded, the prisoners, and this great, sacrificing nation. We are not among those who betray the trust of the martyrs, the land, and the future of generations. The declaration is a roadmap for the annihilation of a segment of the Lebanese people and the enslavement of the rest. The security track, presented under the guise of a fictitious ceasefire, and interpreted as Hezbollah halting its fire and the resistance fighters abandoning the southern front while the aggression continues under military pressure, is nothing short of surrender, defeat, and the fulfillment of the enemy's objectives. It is like Satan's dream of entering Paradise. We are only concerned with stopping the comprehensive aggression, with a ceasefire and the withdrawal of Israel. The ceasefire must be comprehensive, with no separation between the South and the rest of Lebanon, and no freedom for the Israeli enemy to kill in Lebanon. As long as the occupation exists, the resistance will continue. We have not given anyone a commitment not to resist the aggression and respond to it. As long as the aggression continues, we will confront it with all the strength we possess, and we will strike wherever we decide and are able. As long as our villages are not safe, being bombed and destroyed, and our people are being killed, the settlements will not be safe. They will witness our might and our strength. The killers of the prophets will not settle on our land. We will fight the invaders until we expel them from our land and stop their aggression, relying on God's help and support, the bravery of the courageous heroes of the resistance, and the support of our great and exceptional people, who have made great sacrifices for which we honor them, and who remain steadfast in their support of the resistance, and the burning legacy of the martyrs' blood. God Almighty said: “And do not falter in pursuing the enemy. If you are suffering, they are suffering as you are suffering, but you expect from God what they do not expect. And God is All-Knowing, All-Wise.” (An-Nisa 104). We are confident of the victory of this Husseini resistance, “and it is an obligation upon Us to help the believers.” The primary objective must be the sovereignty of Lebanon, which can only be achieved through a comprehensive solution: halting all forms of Israeli aggression against Lebanon—by air, land, and sea—and withdrawing from Lebanese territory to allow the army to deploy south of the Litani River. This includes the release of prisoners, the return of displaced people to their villages, and reconstruction. We reject any linkage between the existence of the resistance and the cessation of aggression and Israeli withdrawal. No one has the right to interfere in Lebanon's internal affairs, which are the domain of the Lebanese people to organize their political, economic, and social lives, and to make decisions regarding their country's sovereignty and protection within the framework of a national security strategy they agree upon. We are committed to national unity in the face of aggression, as it is a source of strength for us all. We hold the government responsible for fulfilling its duty to address the internal Lebanese divisions caused by its political choices, which do not represent the national consensus of the Lebanese people, the principles of the constitution, or the formula for coexistence. The government is responsible for initiating measures and dialogue that will unify the Lebanese people in confronting Israeli aggression against our country, an aggression against us all. It is therefore imperative that the people of this country reach an understanding in confronting the aggression first, and then address our other issues within the framework of the Constitution, the Taif Agreement, national unity, and coexistence. We call upon the officials to put an end to this farce and humiliation called direct negotiations, so that you may be stronger by rallying your entire people around the option of a sovereign state under your leadership, to which the enemies will inevitably submit'
